Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: sw to wsw Wind Stength: gusting 20 Surf / Sea State: big Air Temperature: 19 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: mainly cloudy Max Speed: 24.7 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 41.2 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I was on the water by 8.30 as we were helping a friend move in the
afternoon.I used the same combination as yesterday 7.5 on the Xantos.I
started with a quick blast in the river at the Ferry and thought I had made
a mistake with the rig size as the wind was gusting 20 mph and I was abit
overpowered. On the beat back the wind eased so I continued down the coast
and made the old windsurfing hut end in 3/4 tight reaches going nearly 3
miles out to the shipping line to see a huge container ship go past !!!
Some good reaches back passing another sailer out at the Fludgers, doing 26
miles in 1hr 47mins.By this time the wind had gone wsw and dropped.A couple
of other windsurfers were rigging when I got back(including Neil Hurrell)
but struggled in the lighter winds.Mag came down on her bike and we had
breakfast and the the wind filled in and I had another hour doing a top
speed of 24.7 spending 2hrs 44 mins on the water with an average moving
time of 15 kts, which I thought was good as alot of the time I was
beating.Mark S and Andy M had turned up spent ages rigging then were
overpowered then it rained and the wind disappeared !!!! Another good day
but as yesterday not many sailer about.
